Featured Plate of the Month (July)

| The July feature plate may well
be and arguably so, the worlds rarest amateur radio call sign plate, and
it represents a nine year personal quest to locate and obtain an elusive
Nunavut Territory ham plate to complete my Canadian collection.
A check of the Motor Vehicle database for Nunavut confirms that this plate VY0NU is the first and only ham radio plate ever ordered, manufactured or issued by the Transportation Department of the Territorial Government of Nunavut. This plate therefore earns the distinction
of one of a kind and the only such plate known to exist in
The plate was 8 months in the making and features the Nunavut amateur radio prefix VY0 followed by NU the Territories postal abbreviation. This bear will remain in captivity as the centerpiece of my collection and come`s from a remote land of ice and snow in Canada`s eastern Arctic that has fewer than two dozen licenced radio operators. License plate collecting is a challenging hobby and they don`t get any harder to find than this treasure displayed here for your interest and reference. My sincere thanks to Bryan of Iqaluit on Baffin Is. for making this mission impossible plate a reality. Bob Gammon |
